4-H Family & Consumer Sciences


Exhibits will be accepted from 10:00 am until 6:00 PM on Saturday July 26th

Each Exhibitor will pay $2.00 entry fee, regardless of the number of entries

Entry tags must be attached to each article, giving Division, Class, Lot Numbers, name of article, name of exhibitor, and club name.

Entries must be picked up between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM saturday

Entries taken early will forfeit awards

Exhibitors are NOT limited on the number of entries per lot.

4-H'er MUST be enrolled in the project class they are exhibiting in

Pattern must accompany entry.
 

Departments:

                     A – 4-H                                   C – Open Youth

                             B – FFA                                   D – Open Adult

 

Section A:  Clothing

CLASS 1: First or Second year doing sewing project.

CLASS 2: Three or more years experience in sewing project.

Dress Revue – The Dress Revue will be held on Thursday.  It is open to all exhibitors with clothing entered in the West Valley Fair.  We encourage all to take part.  Awards are available.

 

Section B:  Knitting And Crocheting

CLASS 1:  First or second year doing knitting or crocheting project.

CLASS 2:  Three or more years experience with knitting or crocheting project.

 

Section C:  Child Care
 

May enter any item made for a child or for child safety.

CLASS 1 – Game, Toy, or Book

CLASS 2 – Garment or Blanket

CLASS 3 – Storage Item or Safe Play Kit

CLASS 4 – Scrapbook or Recipe File.

 

Section D:  Baked  Foods

·        All baked goods must be placed on a white paper plate in a Zip Lock bag with recipe. 

·        Each entry must be made from a different recipe.

·        Each ENTRY should include 4 cookies or muffins, 1/4 cake or loaf.

·        Special award for entries using honey as sweetening.

 

Class 1—Cookies

Class 2—Cakes

Class 3—Quick Breads

Class 4—Yeast Breads

Class 5—Candy

Class 6—Pies

Class 7—Other Baked Items

Section E:  Foods Preservation

Þ      All products must have a label indicating product name, date of preservation, processing method, and processing time.

Þ      Any products with no label or incorrectly processed will be disqualified.  Refer to Bulletins available at the extension office for more information.

Þ      Standard canning jars must be used.

Þ      Dehydrated foods must be in Zip Lock bags and labeled.

 

            Class 1— Canned Fruit                                    Class 4— Jams and Jelly

            Class 2— Canned Vegetables                          Class 5— Dehydrated Foods

            Class 3— Pickles and Relish

 

Section F:  Photography

Þ      Entries limited to pictures taken during the current 4-H year.

Þ      Entries must be firmly attached, using dry mount tissue or rubber cement, to a sheet of poster board or suitable firm substitute of proper size (8 1/2 inches by 11 inches).

Þ      Matting optional.

Þ      Pictures must be captioned.

Þ      All photos must be accompanied by the following information:

 

¨       Camera type

¨       Speed of film

¨       Self or commercially printed

¨       And year in project

 

 

Class 1— Scene

Class 2— People

Class 3— Animal

Class 4— Any other subject

Class 5— Sequence of more than two telling a story.

Section I:  Floriculture

·        Must furnish your own container.

·        Entry must be naturally grown (NO plastic or paper).

·        Accessories are permitted in designs

·        Each entry must be different but no limit number.

 

Class 1— Cut Specimen

            Lot A— One bloom or stock

            Lot B— Two or more

Class 2— Flower Arrangement

Class 3— Container Gardening

Class 4— Water Garden

 

Section J:  Horticulture

·        Entries need to be on a white plate and include 4 to 8 items.

·        Uniform size and shape

·        Root crops should be dirt free and tips trimmed to 1 (one) inch above the crown.

·        Heads should have root cut off and outer leaves removed.

·        Threaded grains of all kinds should be plump and well matured, and screened from all foreign matter.

·        All exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor.

 

Class 1— Vegetable

Class 2— Fruit, Nuts, Berries

Class 3— Herbs

Class 4— Grains, Legumes, and Forage Crops

Class 5— Weeds

Class 6— Entomology

Class 7— Landscape
